Team Roxley can never quite express how grateful we are for everyone who backs our projects. They are very special to us, and we hope others feel the same way. Thank you to each and every one of you for helping us climb to the highest towers in just 30 MINUTES!
Santorini is a pillar of the Roxley game roster, and we are beyond thrilled to be bringing this new and improved edition to life, along with a completely fresh cooperative take on the beloved mechanics of the base game. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
Let's Talk About Quests, Baby!
Funding Quests (FQs) are objectives that help enhance the Santorini and Riddle of the Sphinx experiences. 3 FQs will be revealed on the first day of the campaign. After that, Funding Quests will be revealed every morning for the entirety of the campaign, regardless of whether or not the previous one has been unlocked. It’s entirely possible that we’ll be working on multiple FQs simultaneously!
Like Stretch Goals, each FQ requires a specific funding amount to unlock. Unlike Stretch Goals, we'll begin a new Funding Quest together every day of the campaign! We put great consideration into every FQ idea we read. If we hear an amazing and possible idea, we're absolutely willing to alter our secret plan. As always, our goal is to create a well-honed experience while giving you a ton of value for backing our project.
Our First Two Unlocks!
We're very happy to be able to open this campaign by presenting you with our first already-unlocked Funding Quest: Please welcome the following new Gods to Santorini’s Pantheon Edition - Dryads, Oceanus, Metis, and Perseus!
Dice? In Your Santorini?!? It's More Likely Than You Think!
Dr. Gordon Hamilton, designer of Santorini, always felt that randomness and hidden information were the two best ways to improve the 3-player Santorini experience. With that in mind, several of the new gods introduced in Santorini: Pantheon make use of a specialized d12, which can determine random determine directions and/or random numbers.
The Dryads above are one example. The ability to force one of your workers to another space at the end of your turn can be very powerful at any player count, and the fact that that direction is determined randomly at the beginning of your turn makes it an interesting challenge to channel and maximize that power while simultaneously preventing it from becoming broken.
Bridges Over A Troubled Bookspine
...and the best most beautiful part is: they're FREE!
For the Riddle Of The Sphinx, designer James Van Niekerk has created for us these gorgeous little bridge miniatures, which will allow our favorite little Workers to move from one page of the book to the next, connecting two spaces as if there were no intervening spaces. This allows scenarios in Riddle Of The Sphinx to have nearly twice the map space as basic Santorini!
#StayTuned for more unlocks in our upcoming updates!
A Riddle, Wrapped In A Mystery, Wrapped In An Enigma... Wrapped In A Kickstarter Update
During each campaign update, we’ll be bringing you a new riddle posed to us by the Sphinx itself to challenge the creative brains of our Santorini rabble-rousers. (We need to keep it busy, or it might eat us.) As this is the first, the Sphinx agreed to start us off with a simple challenge:
What are we?
Drop your solution in the comments section! For the official answer to this puzzling posit (and to see who won bragging rights for being the first correct answer), be sure to check out our second campaign update!
(P. S.: We're still waiting to hear back from someone with the solution to the riddle in the Kickstarter video! Anybody figured out the answer for that yet?)
We'll be back before the weekend to check in with everyone. Thanks all for your continued support, participation, and positivity!
Keep rollin' sixes!
